Jungfraujoch Railway Station, Swiss Alps.
Fancy a Christmas rail vacation? The number of travelers opting for a Christmas or New Year break is increasing, says rail vacation specialist Great Rail Journeys.
The company specializes in rail-inclusive, escorted group tours to Europe and throughout the world. Their passengers travel in groups of 30-40 people with a tour manager.
Great Rail Journeys offers 60 festive holidays including six new itineraries and encompasses River Cruises, British-based breaks, Single Travellers tours and European rail tours.
Says Richard Adams, spokesperson:
“People are looking for something that little bit special, a chance to enjoy a white Christmas in spectacular surroundings or to dress up for a gala event. The numbers grow every year, which is why the program has been extended again.”
Among the new holidays are ‘Christmas in the Castle’ at the Schlosshotel Rosenegg in the Tyrolean village of Fieberbrunn.
There will be special excursions such as a rail trip to Zell am See; a torchlight village walk and a Salzburg’s Christmas Market visit.
