Spain is a mountainous country where some of the most famous and inspiring mountain ranges can be found, from the Balearic mountains to the Catalan range to the Toledo Hills.
It’s not just mainland Spain and the Balearics that are home to these mountains.
The Canary Islands are known for their mountains – the highest mountain in Spain is Teide in Tenerife (3,718 metres).

Fancy trekking the Pyrenees? In 2011, the Year of the Pyrenees, Pyrenean Odysseys will launch two traverses of the mountain range.
The trips will be west to east along the Pyrenean High Route and from south to north on a high return path from Santiago de Compostella.

ITV has premiered its new arctic adventure show 71 Degrees North.
Set in Norway, the show has taken 10 British celebrities who will travel from the south to the north while competing in extreme challenges.
The adventurer left standing at the North Cape, the northernmost point of Europe, at 71° north, will become the show’s winner.
Call it the ultimate Antarctica and Africa adventure. Adventure travel company Bridge & Wickers is now offering its White Desert, White Lion adventure departing this December.
The two continent adventure will combine an “unforgettable stay” on Antarctica and “behind-the-scenes safari” in South Africa. Trip highlights will include wildlife viewing; visiting an Emperor Penguin colony; sleeping in an igloo and ice climbing.
