Want to celebrate Everest Day in Nepal?

World Expeditions is offering a Khumjung School Trek coinciding with Everest Day, May 29, 2011.

2011 is the 50th anniversary of Sir Edmund Hillary’s Khumjung School aka ‘School In The Clouds’.

Built back in 1961, the school sits at 3,790m above sea level in Nepal’s Sagarmatha National Park.

The Himalayan Trust Khumjung School Trek with Rebecca Stephens is scheduled for May 22 to June 3, 2011. The trek will be graded introductory.

The trip will include all accommodation, internal transport, meals, fees and a £250 donation to the Himalayan Trust.

The trek will take place during local Sherpa Everest Day celebrations which mark the first ascent of Mount Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.

Travelers will gain special access to Himalayan Trust’s regional projects and a blessing from the Rimpoche at the Buddhist monastery of Thyangboche.
