Yosemite National Park is one of the great American adventure travel destinations.
This year, Grand American Adventures is calling Yosemite, which is celebrating its 140th anniversary, one of its Big Five American Adventures for 2012.
In March 1872, it became the first national park in the world when the US government preserved the walker’s paradise in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range of northern California.
Grand American Adventures specializes in taking guests off-the-beaten-track into the wilderness regions and national parks of North, South and Central America.
Their adventure tours feature outdoor activities including hiking, horse riding, mountain biking and snorkeling to rafting, glacier trekking and scenic helicopter flights.
These small, flexible American group tours stay in varied accommodation from historic National Parks and dome tents to cowboy ranches and boutique hotels.
During the 18-day Best of the West tour, the trip covers 3,400+ square miles, taking guests to the geysers, hot springs, rugged beauty and wildlife of the park. This tour also features Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Salt Lake City, Yellowstone National Park, Nevada and San Francisco.
