Travel accommodation company Crete Escapes now has discounts and special offers on selected villas this summer.

One of Greece’s most southern islands, Crete has the earliest and longest summers in the country.

May and June can be a “sunshine escape” without the peak season crowds.

Crete is known for its stunning sandy beaches, traditional villages, archaeological sites and walks in the island’s Samaria Gorge.

Certain villa packages feature free car rentals for travel until June 28, 2011.

The free car hire is a Group B1 car category which includes either a Toyota Yaris, VW Polo, Citroen C3 or Fiat Punto.

Each villa holiday package also includes a welcome pack and maid service.

The villas in Crete include:

• Villa Ioanna (sleeps eight). The modern, luxury four-bedroom villa has panoramic sea views. In a private, quiet lane, it is a five-minute walk to sandy beaches, shops and tavernas. Features include a private pool, BBQ terrace, air conditioning and Internet access.

• Villa Tigga (sleeps six). The two-bedroom villa with sofa bed has sea views across Souda Bay to the Akrotiri peninsula. Features include infinity pool, outdoor dining terrace and wooden pergola. The village of Kokkino Chorio and its shops and tavernas is a short 10-minute walk away.

• Villa Antheia (sleeps five). The two-bedroom stone-clad villa has sea views from the pool and all of the terraces and balconies. In a quiet location outside the traditional village of Kefalas, the villa features a private pool, covered pergola, BBQ terrace, air conditioning, a sofa bed and large landscaped gardens.
